Business English

With your company's particular focus and needs in mind, we offer courses in which the participants practice the English language and get to understand the business culture in the English-speaking world. Vocabulary and grammar work, reading comprehension and conversation practice are integral parts of every class. Courses are typically designed in 6-week-intervals. Groups of not more than 8 participants meet once a week for 60 or 90 minutes (during their lunch break or after they finish work for the day). The course is completed after 5 intervals. New participants are welcome to join every new interval. We suggest Langenscheidt's Business English in 30 Tagen for use in class but will also provide additional material that will take into account participants' needs and questions.

Small Talk: The Key to professional and private success

Small Talk is an art form and needs to be taught and treated as such. Speakers draw on a high level of social, cultural and linguistic skills when they use this type of communication to perfection. The effective use of small talk can open doors in business as well as private contexts.
In this 6 hour course (which can be taught as a 6 week class or as a workshop) a maximum of 10 people will learn the basic skills and practice them in role plays. The goal of this class is to introduce participants to the fun and effectiveness of this way of communicating which will show them how to effortlessly get to know people, exchange information and lay the groundwork for a productive work atmosphere. They will also receive useful tips for various real-life situations.
This course can be held in English or German.

Workshops

Business English courses and seminars on Small Talk are also offered as workshops. Depending on your goals, a workshop can extend over a couple of hours or a full or half day. No matter the exact number of hours a workshop may last, the transfer of knowledge can be more effective because of longer exposure to the subject matter. Additionally, theoretical input can be processed better because practical excercises (such as role play or discussion) help to reveal the relevance for real-life situations.

Coaching

Business German: German for the job

Companies with an international workforce are at an advantage, since they can tap into their employees' diverse cultural, professional and linguistic abilities. At the same time, these professionals may wish to improve their command of the German language for more efficient communication at work. This course (consisting of three 6-week-intervals) takes the participants' knowledge of German as a starting point in order to expand and refine their linguistic skills. By the end of the course, everyone will be able to communicate effectively in the target language. Everybody will have acquired tools to navigate business and less formal contexts. Writing excercises and role play will help to practice all essential elements of communication.
